WP5: Testing Legume Utilisation and Livestock Productivity [Aberystwyth University/IBERS]

To support the on-farm participatory research in WP1, we will investigate legume utilisation by livestock and the effects of these new legumes on livestock productivity using replicated plots.

These scientific studies will provide more detailed studies on livestock productivity than can be tested on a commercial farm. Linkages will be made to the on-farm research to test innovative methods to integrate these legumes and to optimise their management and nitrogen fixation.

This will ensure the work is relevant to the end-users and will provide both production and environmental benefits for farmers. The findings will also link to the work being undertaken on LCA for WP6.
